Empowerment Center Programs

The Empowerment Center of Greater Cleveland provides the following program services in support of our mission:

1. Family Support Services:

  • Assist individuals and families access community services
  • Direct network to food, shelter, childcare, healthcare, budget counseling, legal assistance, etc.
  • Utility bill assistance
  • Self-directed income tax filing
  • Household furnishings
  • Free eyeglasses

2. Project B.R.E.A.D.:

  • Bridging and Reconnecting eligible Cleveland area residents by Ensuring Access and Delivery of service
  • Identify and assist eligible persons to apply for food stamps
  • Nutrition Information and Education
  • Food Stamp Information Hotline

3. The Computer Resource Center:

  • Computer/self-directed learning
  • Participants learn software applications
  • Internet access
  • Workshops
  • Prepare career portfolios
  • Employment and training opportunities
  • Open Labs
  • Journey to Employment – Pathways to Success

4. Community Membership Council:

  • Neighborhood-based leadership
  • Direct participation in the decision-making process
  • Organized community action to affect change
  • Voter Registration
  • Community Education, including:
    • Issue-oriented workshops and forums
    • Distribution of community resources
    • Quarterly newsletter

5. Lifeline Ohio Outreach:

  • Identify and assist eligible persons to apply for food stamps
